Quanto è distante l’Europa da Rovigo? Se fosse tanto quanto la Challenge Cup giocata a Cardiff dai Bersaglieri vs i Blues la distanza sarebbe siderale. E pensare che il regista Carlo Mazzacurati ha girato in Polesine e nel Delta il film “La giusta distanza” e che a Cardiff negli studi della BBC in rappresentanza dei Bersaglieri i dirigenti polesani Nicola Azzi , Antonio Zambelli e alcuni rappresentanti delle Posse Rossoblu hanno reso omaggio al ‘busto’ di Carwyn James ( vedere la relativa Story sempre qui su www.polesineport.it).
Storie che si incrociano a livello internazionale , perché oltretutto Carwyn James è stato allenatore dei Lions nonché del Rovigo sculettato 1979.

Considerazioni da fare in casa Rugby Rovigo Delta? Diciamo che sui Mass Media polesani coach Frati ha fatto autocritica assumendosi tutta la responsabilità della sconfitta ‘pesante’ per “essere andato a Cardiff cercando di sfidare i Blues impostando la partita sul possesso palla e sul ritmo”, mentre ai suoi giocatori non ritiene di dover rimproverare molto visto che “ i ragazzi hanno cercato di opporsi ad una squadra lontana anni luce dal livello di gioco a cui siamo abituati”.
Insomma è ‘toccato’ alla Rugby Rovigo Delta quello che ho visto capitare qualche giorno fa alla Benetton Rugby subissata dai Southampton ‘col peggior risultato storico” per i trevigiani a livello internazionale.
Quindi, niente super-processi a coach Frati ma …. Sicuramente i Bersaglieri dovranno concentrarsi al meglio … in vista dei London Irish sabato 24 gennaio nel turno casalingo sempre in Challenge Cup e soprattutto alla ripresa del campionato di Eccellenza in data 1 febbraio contro il Petrarca Padova.

<< La Femi-Cz Rugby Rovigo Delta, archiviata la prima parte del Campionato Italiano d'Eccellenza, si appresta ad affrontare le ultime due sfide di European Rugby Challenge Cup ma deve ancora fare i conti con le assenze di diversi giocatori.
Ancora non disponibili Giuseppe Boggiani e Steven Bortolussi, che hanno comunque iniziato l'attività di recupero in piscina. Dopo la partita di sabato scorso a Prato, Gheorghe Gajion ha riportato un trauma dentale che richiederà una valutazione specialistica e Andrea De Marchi sarà sottoposto ad accertamenti diagnostici per una probabile lesione tendinea all'adduttore.
Momentaneamente fermo anche Billy Ngawini per una lieve contusione al ginocchio, mentre Guillermo Roan e Ross McCann hanno ripreso a correre. Riprenderà oggi la corsa anche Alessandro Borsi.

<< Cardiff Blues maintain their push for knock out rugby in Europe with a record breaking win at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park.
Cardiff Blues romped to victory at BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park against Italian side Rovigo. Having suffered defeat for the first time in the Challenge Cup in their last game they were looking to come back in style.
Tries came thick and fast from the outset. Lloyd Williams scored in the eight minute with a show and go following some good work by Richard Smith. The try was converted by Gareth Anscombe.
Try number two came within minutes when Rovigo failed to deal with an Anscombe kick. When Rovigo fullback Stefan Basson failed to clear his lines from the restart the Blues moved the ball wide and Josh Turnbull grabbed their second.
Tries continued to come as Rovigo continued to struggle with the tempo that Cardiff Blues played at. Richard Smith beat two defenders before going over in the corner. Rhys Patchell wrapped up a bonus point with the Blues fourth try from midfield before Smith got his second for the home side.
By this time Cardiff Blues had scored as many points as they had in 80 minutes against Rovigo away. Further tries came before half time from Hobbs, Jenkins and Allen to extend the lead to 54 nil at half time.
The second half started in the same vein with more tries. Davies replaced Anscombe just after the break. Anscombe showed his skills in an impressive performance in the first half. Quick tries followed for Williams and Jenkins which brought the Blues to the region's biggest score in European history.
Richard Smith rounded off an excellent evening with his third try.
The Blues emptied their bench to increase the intensity of the game and pushed on to punish Rovigo further.
Rovigo eventually got points on the board with a try from a maul in the corner with the forwards driving over purposefully and Maran touching down, making the score, 73-5.
Macauley Cook had only been on the park for two minutes, having replaced Dicomidis, before he got his name on the scoreboard, with another try.
Rovigo continued to work hard against a confident Blues team. They were rewarded in the 69th minute with a try by Francesco Menon which was converted by Basson.
The Blues fought back immediately with a try from Scott Andrews. In the 72nd minute Frati was yellow carded adding to Rovigo's troubles. The card was given for too many infringements.
Further tries from Dacey, Davies and injury time score for Jones and Davies kicking his fifth conversion completed the rout. Cardiff Blues scored eight tries in each half and gained a record points win in a European fixture.

<< Cardiff Blues scored the eighth century in European rugby history as they ran in 16 tries in a record-breaking 104-12 win over Rovigo.
The Italian part-timers had conceded 18 tries in their previous two away games in pool one against London Irish and Grenoble but even by their standards this was a slaughtering.
Eight tries in each half for the Blues and 12 conversions from the boot of Gareth Anscombe and Gareth Davies helped the home side to their record points total in a European fixture.
It surpassed the 62 points they scored against Calvisano in 2009 by some distance and moves them top of pool one ahead of the Exiles.
There was a brief period of respite for Rovigo in the second half when they managed two tries through lock Matteo Maran and centre Francesco Menon but there was little else to smile about for the visitors.
The Blues' first try came after seven minutes when Lloyd Williams found a gap to go over and almost straight from the re-start Josh Turnbull grabbed a second.
Richard Smith then got the first of his two first half tries, before Rhys Patchell wrapped up the bonus point with a try on his return from injury.
Sam Hobbs got the sixth after good work from Matthew Rees and straight from kick off Ellis Jenkins added another before Cory Allen got the eighth on the stroke of half-time.
Three Blues' tries at the beginning of the second period killed off the slimmest of hopes of a second half comeback, a second each for Williams and Jenkins and a hat-trick score for Smith.
Maran and Menon got tries either side of a Macauley Cook score but it was only a brief moment of relief from the onslaught.
Scott Andrews got try number 13 with 10 minutes to go but there was still time to bring up the century with tries for replacements Kristian Dacey, fly-half Davies and an injury-time score for Lewis Jones, with Davies kicking his fifth conversion.>>
