Abbiamo sempre seguito il Beach Volley World Tour “women” in escalation con Marta Menegatti. Poi by Long Beach è entrato’ in azzurro anche Alex Ranghieri e allora…. eccovi questo reportage da Berlino.
Sì perché sarebbe troppo corto questa News se parlassimo solo delle Ladies, visto che Marta Menegatti si era messa a riposo ( è working in progress con Victoria Orsi Toth…) e visto che Greta Cicolari in coppia con Silvia Costantini è uscita troppo presto dalle qualificazioni.
Invece la coppia Andrea Tomatis & Alex Ranghieri ci ha ‘obbligati’ a seguirli nelle loro performance fino alle semifinali e oltre, visto che ho seguito “tutta la finalina per il terzo posto” in diretta streaming su Laiola1. Cosa dire? Strepitosa la coppia azzurra, per il resto confermo il mio augurio/Sms ( ricevuto e ricambiato subito by Alex) e … sarà for the netxt time.
Certo ho visto uno strepitoso Evandro Goncalves nella finalissima, con giocate brasiliane alla Pelè, mentre il suo compagno Vitor Felipe sapeva trasformare recuperi in ricezione come un mago tira fuori il …coniglio dal cilindro.
Tecnicamente superdotato Evandro perché è altissimo e perché sa ‘arretrare a cercare spazio per il salto in avanti a schiacciare verso angoli impossibili’. Roba da cineteca, anche se i brasiliano hanno perso il primo set, colpa di un ‘fallo di piede’ fischiato a Evandro sul set point e colpa di uno strepitoso ace del ‘lunghisimo’ russo in battuta. Ma sul piano della qualità tattica il dominio dei brasiliani era evidente, anche nel terzo set pur se il risultato è stato in bilico fino alla fine.
E per quanto riguarda il ‘bronzo sfiorato’ da Alex Ranghieri e Andrea Tomatis?
Dico solo che ‘per il momento’ hanno fatto il massimo contro i fortissimi spagnoli Herrera e Gavira, mentre per l’altra coppia italiana fornmata da Lupo & Nicolai… li attendiamo prossimamente su questo schermo.
Per quanto riguarda le “women” da segnalare la vittoria della coppia brasiliana Lima - Antunes sulle tedesche ‘di casa’ Holtwick Semmler, per la medaglia di bronzo la coppia statunitense Fopma – Sweat ha avuto la meglio sulla coppia ceca formata da Slukova-Kolocova. Tutto questo, l’abbiamo detto, mentre noi aspettiamo il ritorno di Marta Menegatti….

Certo se istituissero il Beach Volley World Tour “misto” magari ci ritroveremmo a seguire l’escalation della coppia Marta & Alex , ma questa è una storia più di vita che di sport/beach volley, con tutti gli auguri da parte nostra.
Ma per intanto limitiamoci per parte nostra a certificare con adeguata fotogallery (crop’ anche by Laiola1 in streaming) giocate e aspetti agonistici delle performance berlinesi tra Ranghieri & Tomatis e … tutto quanto è successo ai winners tra sabbia/beach e dintorni.

<< Comincerà’ domani con le qualificazioni del tabellone maschile il Grand Slam di Berlino, undicesima tappa del circuito mondiale. I primi a scendere in campo saranno Andrea Tomatis e Alex Ranghieri reduci dall’ottimo quinto posto ottenuto nel Grand Slam di Long Beach dove, come in questo caso, avevano iniziato il loro percorso proprio dalle qualificazioni. Nel main draw da mercoledi' gareggeranno poi gli azzurri Daniele Lupo e Paolo Nicolai che proprio ieri hanno conquistato il quarto posto nei Campionati Europei disputati a Klagenfurt. Nelle qualificazioni del tabellone femminile (al via sempre mercoledi') ci saranno Toti-Lo Re, mentre Cicolari-Costantini sono nel tabellone principale.

<<Giornata positiva per le coppie maschili impegnate nel main draw del Grand Slam di Berlino. Il bilancio e' infatti di tre vittorie su quattro match disputati con gli azzurri Daniele Lupo e Paolo Nicolai che hanno centrato una doppietta: il primo successo e' arrivato contro i cechi Kufa-Hadrava, 2-0 (21-19, 21-19) i parziali, mentre nella successiva gara hanno vinto 2-0 (21-14, 21-18) contro i tedeschi Kaczmarek-Fuchs. Domani nell'ultima partita della pool se la vedranno con gli olandesi Brouwer-Meeuwsen.
Bene anche Andrea Tomatis e Alex Ranghieri che, provenienti dalle qualificazioni, hanno dapprima perso di misura 2-1 (21-17, 18-21, 15-10) contro i numeri 2 del tabellone, i brasiliani Pedro-Bruno, per poi rifarsi riuscendo ad avere la meglio 2-0 (21-19, 21-13) sui polacchi Kadziola-Szalankiewicz. Domani l'ultimo match sara' contro i canadesi Saxton-Schalk. Niente da fare, invece, per Giulia Toti e Graziella Lo Re sconfitte 2-0 (21-14, 21-10) al primo turno delle qualificazioni dalle olandesi Braakman-Van der Vlist. << In evidenza le due coppie maschili impegnate nel Grand Slam di Berlino: sia Lupo-Nicolai che Tomatis-Ranghieri, infatti, hanno conquistato l'accesso alla fase ad eliminazione diretta. Daniele Lupo e Paolo Nicolai, dopo le vittorie di ieri contro i cechi Kufa-Hadrava e i tedeschi Kaczmarek-Fuchs, oggi hanno collezionato il loro terzo successo nella Pool G superando 2-1 (13-21, 21-9, 15-9) gli iridati olandesi Brouwer-Meeuwsen. In virtù del successo, i ragazzi di Paulao hanno chiuso al primo posto il loro raggruppamento e hanno così conquistato l’accesso diretto al secondo turno dove domani affronteranno la formazione vincente del match tra i polacchi Fijalek-Prudel e gli austriaci Huber-Seidl.
Molto bene anche Andrea Tomatis e Alex Ranghieri nella Pool B. Il duo proveniente dalle qualificazioni, infatti, dopo l’iniziale sconfitta al tie-break contro i brasiliani Pedro-Bruno (numero 2 del tabellone), ha vinto contro i polacchi Kadziola-Szalankiewicz per poi avere la meglio, oggi, sui canadesi Saxton-Schalk con il punteggio di 2-0 (21-12, 21-19).
Domani mattina nel primo turno se la vedranno con gli elvetici Gabathuler-Weingart.
Sul versante femminile, invece, niente da fare per Greta Cicolari e Silvia Costantini che dopo la sconfitta all’esordio per 2-0 (21-14, 21-10) contro le brasiliane Maria Clara – Carol, nel pomeriggio si sono arrese 2-0 (21-14, 21-15) anche alle russe Ukolova-Khomyakova. << Andrea Tomatis e Alex Ranghieri sono tra i protagonisti del Grand Slam in corso di svolgimento a Berlino. Il duo italiano proveniente dalle qualificazioni, infatti, è riuscito conquistare l’accesso alle semifinali di domani (dove affronteranno i brasiliani Vitor Felipe-Evandro) dopo una grande giornata che li ha visti vincere tre match consecutivi.
Il primo se lo sono aggiudicato contro gli elvetici Gabathuler-Weingart con il punteggio di 2-0 (21-18, 21-18), nel secondo hanno avuto la meglio 2-1 (15-21, 27-25, 15-13) in rimonta contro i quotati lettoni Smedins-Samoilovs (numero 3 del tabellone); mentre nel terzo e conclusivo di giornata hanno battuto 2-0 (21-19, 21-18) i tedeschi Dollinger-Windscheif.
Per quanto riguarda Daniele Lupo e Paolo Nicolai, invece, i due azzurri hanno chiuso al nono posto sconfitti 2-1 (21-19, 23-25, 7-15) dai polacchi Fijalek-Prudel negli ottavi di finale.
Quella odierna è stata un’occasione mancata dai ragazzi di Paulao che, dopo aver vinto il primo set hanno sprecato due match ball sul 20-18 del secondo parziale prima di essere rimontati dai propri avversari, bravi a non mollare neanche nei momenti di maggiore difficoltà.
Sul versante femminile venticinquesimo posto finale per Greta Cicolari e Silvia Costantini che hanno collezionato la loro terza sconfitta, battute 2-0 (21-13, 21-18) dalle tedesche Bieneck- Großner.>>

<< Andrea Tomatis e Alex Ranghieri alle 17.35 scenderanno in campo nella finale per il 3-4 posto. Oggi, infatti, i due beacher italiani sono stati sconfitti 2-0 (21-15, 21-18) dai brasiliani Vitor Felipe-Evandro in semifinale al termine di un match in cui, nel secondo parziale, sotto 20-15 erano anche riusciti ad annullare tre match ball agli avversari. Per i due atleti, che avevano iniziato il loro torneo superando due turni delle qualificazioni, si tratta comunque di un ottimo piazzamento indipendentemente dall’esito della finale per il 3-4 posto che li vedrà opposti ai campioni d’Europa, gli spagnoli Herrera-Gavira, sconfitti nella prima semifinale 2-0 (21-19, 21-17) dai russi Semenov-Krasilnikov.
Per Tomatis-Ranghieri, alla seconda apparizione assieme nel 2013 (la decima in totale dal 2010) dopo il quinto posto a Long Beach, si tratterà in ogni caso del miglior risultato in carriera nel World Tour.
Il duo italiano sta vivendo sicuramente uno strepitoso momento di forma testimoniato dal ruolino di marcia avuto fino ad ora nel torneo: il bilancio infatti è di 7 vittorie alcune delle quali contro avversari di valore assoluto come i lettoni Smedins-Samoilovs e di due sole sconfitte, la prima al tie-break all’esordio nel main draw e la seconda, appunto, odierna.>>

<< Berlin, Germany, August 9, 2013 – Three teams will make their FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Grand Slam semifinal debuts, when the men’s tournament at the Berlin smart Grand Slam draws to a close on Saturday.
Brazil’s Vitor Felipe and Evandro Goncalves and Italy’s Andrea Tomatis and Alex Ranghieri have progressed all the way from the qualifying rounds and will now meet in the second semifinal at 13.05, local time.
The first at 12.05 is between Russia’s Konstantin Semenov and Viacheslav Krasilnikov, a team playing in their first tournament together. However, they will have to beat newly crowned European champions Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira of Spain, who also won silver at the most recent Grand Slam, in Long Beach, USA.
In the women’s competition teams face two rounds of matches, but by the end of the day they will know who will play in the semifinals on Sunday.
World Tour leaders Talita Antunes and Taiana Lima remain in the hunt for a fifth Grand Slam gold medal of the season, while Germany’s number one side Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmler are one of four home teams eyeing a place in the latter stages.
Italian qualifiers keep up run to last four
It has been a long week for Tomatis and Ranghieri, but the pair are now one match away from the Berlin smart Grand Slam gold medal match after reaching the semifinals on Friday.
The Italians won all three matches starting with Switzerland’s Philip Gabathuler and Jonas Weingart, which was followed by a three-set thriller against Latvia’s World Tour rankings leaders Janis Smedins and Aleksandrs Samoilovs.
Their run culminated in a 2-0 (21-19, 21-19) win over the last remaining German men’s team, Sebastian Dollinger and Stefan Windscheif to set up a semifinal against another team who made it through qualification, Brazil’s Vitor Felipe and Evandro. MORE
Borger and Sude lead home charge in Berlin
Karla Borger and Julia Sude were one of four German teams to reach the second elimination round after they won twice on Friday.
First off they won their final pool match against Kazakhstan’s Tatyana Mashkova and Irina Tsimbalova 2-0 (21-10, 21-17) and then made it through the first elimination round with a 2-0 (21-16, 21-16) victory over the Netherlands’ Sanne Keizer and Marleen van Iersel.
Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst also made it through to the second elimination round, while Holtwick and Semmler will take on compatriots Victoria Bieneck and Julia Grossner for a place in the quarterfinals.
Brazil’s Maria-Clara and Carolina Salgado meanwhile won their pool’s showdown against Russia’s Evgenia Ukolova and Ekaterina Khomyakova to take top spot and go straight into the second elimination round. MORE

<<Berlin, Germany, August 10, 2013 – Vitor Felipe and Evandro Goncalves beat Russia’s Konstantin Semenov and Viacheslav Krasilnikov in the Berlin smart Grand Slam men’s gold medal match on Saturday to complete a run that had started in the qualifying round six days earlier.
The Brazilians beat the Russians 2-1 (21-23, 21-13, 15-15) in 53 minutes to win their first ever FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour gold medal in their first final, in their first season together.
“I can’t believe it,” Vitor Felipe said. “I’ve never stood on top of a podium before, be it FIVB or the Brazilian Tour or anywhere and now I’ve won gold.”
The pair’s previous best result was a quarterfinal finish at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships this year, but in Berlin they outperformed a number of higher profile Brazilian pairs to add their name to the country’s roll of honour.
For Vitor Felipe the win ends a frustrating run of finals in which he has finished with a silver medal. He did it twice with Alvaro Filho at the FIVB U21 World Championships and then repeated the result with Marcio Gaudie Ley at the inaugural FIVB U23 World Championships this year.
“My partner played so well,” Vitor Felipe said. “They were a difficult team and we had to concentrate hard.”
For Semenov and Krasilnikov the result is no less remarkable considering that they were playing in their first tournament together.
Semenov recently won the FIVB Anapa Open with Yaroslav Koshkarev, but an injury to his former partner meant he needed a new teammate in Berlin and the duo clicked immediately; they eliminated world champions Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen of the Netherlands in the quarterfinals and newly crowned European champions Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira in the semifinals.
“I’m happy with second place in a Grand Slam and it is a big emotion for me,” Semenov said. “My partner is a very strong guy, has good defence and great hitting.
“We played well this tournament and gelled quickly and we able to show off our skills. We played well today with good passing and hitting, but the Brazilians were better.”
Herrera and Gavira win three medals in three weeks with bronze
Herrera and Gavira recovered from their loss in the semifinal to claim the bronze medals. It is the pair’s third consecutive week in which they have won medals after winning silver at the Long Beach Grand Slam and gold at the European championships.
They beat Italian qualifiers Andrea Tomatis and Alex Ranghieri 2-0 (21-19, 21-16), a team that have now achieved their best ever World Tour finish after they were called up as late replacements for Paolo and Matteo Ingrosso.
"It is wonderful,” Herrera said. “This is our third medal in three straight tournaments. It was a tough match today, but with the support of the crowd we believed we could win the bronze and were able to do so.”

Double Brazilian joy rounds off Berlin smart Grand Slam

<<Berlin, Germany, August 11, 2013 – Talita Antunes and Taiana Lima rounded off a good week for Brazil when they won the Berlin smart Grand Slam on Sunday.
Their victory over Germany’s Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmler in the German capital meant the South Americans finished with gold in both genders after Vitor Felipe and Evandro Goncalves won the men’s competition on Saturday for their first FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour medal.
Talita and Lima’s win also slightly extends their lead at the top of the World Tour, ahead of Holtwick and Semmler, who lead the chasing pack.
The World Tour resumes after a week’s break for the Moscow Grand Slam, which runs from August 21-25 and the men’s silver medallists are likely to have their sights set on winning domestic gold.
Like Vitor Felipe and Evandro, Konstantin Semenov and Viacheslav Krasilnikov played in their first World Tour final and with Berlin their first tournament as a team, they are likely to be confident of delighting their home fans.
Talita and Lima break German hearts with Berlin gold
Talita and Lima broke German hearts when they fought back from four match points down to beat Holtwick and Semmler and win the Berlin smart Grand Slam gold medals.
The Brazilians blocked out the Berlin centre court crowd to beat the number one German team 2-1 (16-21, 23-21, 15-12) in the gold medal match.
“This was a tough match,” Talita said. “They were playing at home, they were playing well, but at 20-17, we never gave up and kept trying and trying.” MORE
Fopma and Sweat enjoy taste of bronze
USA’s Jennifer Fopma and Brooke Sweat won their first ever World Tour medals when they beat Czech Republic’s Marketa Slukova and Kristyna Kolocova 2-1 (21-18, 17-21, 15-12) in the bronze medal match.
Both teams were going for their first ever World Tour podium place and the Americans started stronger. While they maintained their momentum at the start of the second set a well-placed time-out gave the Czechs the chance to regroup and draw level.
“We just had to keep battling,” Sweat said. “We got down a few times, but we knew if we stayed calm, controlled our side we could battle back and that’s how we did it.” MORE
Dream final set up after both semifinals go the distance
Germany’s leading duo Holtwick and Semmler remain on course for their first FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Grand Slam gold medal after reaching the Berlin smart Grand Slam final.
They will need to be at their very best to overcome gold-medal match opponents and World Tour leaders Antunes and Lima of Brazil, a team that have their eyes firmly fixed on a fifth Grand Slam gold medal of the year.
Both semifinals went to tie-breaks; Holtwick and Semmler beat Fopma and Sweat 2-1 (21-17, 16-21, 15-10), while Talita and Lima beat the Czech Republic’s first time semifinalists Slukova and Kolocova 2-1 (20-22, 21-15, 15-8). MORE

Poi per quanto riguarda la fotogallery , dopo le prime due immagini by www.fivb.org con relative didascalie, proponiamo un poker di foto dedicate alla coppia Tomatis (sempre col numero 1) e Ranghieri, vi snoccioliamo una serie di foto ‘cropped’ by streaming targato www.laiola1 1.tv , dove ho assistito a tutte le due finali, cioè primo e terzo posto del Berlino Grand Slam sia ‘men’ che ‘women’.
Tra l’altro ho scelto tante di quelle con didascalie incorporate, per cui … soprassediamo dal segnalarvi nomi e cognomi dei players.
Invece abbiamo voluto mostrarvi altresì alcuni flash by pubblico, giusto per mostrarvi il folklore by Berlino.
Ovviamente non appare il fatto che alcuni flash incorporano sensazioni particolari, come quello che riguarda Evandro Goncales appena punito dall’arbitro ( perciò ho messo anche il referee con fischietto) per un discutibile fallo di più in un momento topico del match.
Come non appaiono le ‘reazioni psicosomatiche’ di chi si è trovato più volte ‘sfortunato’ perché l’avversario ha fatto punto dopo aver colpito il nastro della rete ( come nella finalissima per la golden medal tra le women).
Ovviamente le tedesche erano ‘caricatissime’ dal tifo del suo pubblico familiare, mentre per caratterizzare il Grand Slam by Smart, vi ho proposte il relax delle coppie sulle ..panchine/macchine a forma di Smart decapottabile.
Per quanto riguarda infine il cerimoniale e il post partita ho voluto ‘certificarlo’ con le immagini delle interviste post match e con le premiazioni tra podio e dintorni.
Compresa la foto podio di tutte le medagliste ‘women’ assieme agli organizzatori, sul podio davanti a loro.
