Alla ricerca di punti importanti per conquistare il pass olimpionico, la tappa di Chetumal – Mexico non ha regalato grandi soddisfazioni alle coppie azzurre Enrico Rossi & Adrian Carambula ( 17° posto) e Marta Menegatti & Viktoria Orsi Toth ( pure 17° posto).
Una amarezza mitigata dal fatto che le azzurre Marta & Viki hallo lottato come sempre come leonesse e hanno sfiorato il successo al tie break.

ANTEPRIMA NEWS ( by www.federvolley.it, 12/11/2019 ) / World Tour 4 stelle: da domani al via la tappa di Chetumal
Domani, prenderà il via la tappa del World Tour 4 stelle di Chetumal, in Messico, che si concluderà domenica con le finali che assegneranno le medaglie. Quello in questione, sarà l'ultimo torneo del circuito internazionale del 2019 e ai nastri di partenza ci saranno tre coppie italiane: nel tabellone femminile Nucete-Bianchin saranno impegnate da domani nelle qualificazioni, mentre Marta Menegatti e Viktoria Orsi-Toth inizieranno il proprio percorso dal Main Draw.
Le due azzurre, vorranno concludere al meglio il 2019, cercando di guadagnare punti importanti per il ranking olimpico, dove avranno il compito di difendere o migliorare l’undicesima posizione, valida per i Giochi Olimpici di Tokyo (si qualificano le prime quindici al netto dei pass messi in palio dalle manifestazioni internazionali). Stesso discorso anche per Enrico Rossi e Adrian Carambula, impegnati nel tabellone principale che avrà inizio giovedì.
Da oggi fino a venerdì, invece, si disputerà la tappa 1 stella di Doha. In campo Bonifazi-Krumins e Labate-Panerati nel torneo maschile e Allegretti-Gradini in quello femminile.

E' cominciato con una vittoria per 2-0 (21-17, 21-14) contro le cinesi Lin-Zeng il cammino di Marta Menegatti e Viktoria Orsi Toth nella tappa 4 stelle di Chetumal, Messico. Le due azzurre nel prossimo match - in programma questa notte alle ore 2 - se la vedranno con le russe Bocharova-Voronina.
Alle ore 22, sarà il turno di Rossi-Carambula, impegnati contro i tedeschi Winter-Walkenhorst nella gara d'esordio del main darw maschile.

Le azzurre Marta Menegatti e Viktoria Orsi Toth sono state battute 2-0 (21-16, 21-19) dalle russe Bocharova-Voronina nel secondo match della pool E del Torneo 4 stelle in corso di svolgimento a Chetumal, Messico. Il duo tricolore ora tornerà in campo alle ore 20 italiane contro le tedesche Behrens-Tillmann nell'ultima partita del raggruppamento.

Si chiude con un 17esimo posto la tappa 4 stelle di Chetumal per Marta Menegatti e Viktoria Orsi Toth. Questa sera le due azzurre hanno ceduto al tie-break con il punteggio di 1-2 (21-12, 19-21, 9-15) alle tedesche Behrens-Tillmann. Per il duo tricolore c’è del rammarico per come sono andate le cose. Dopo un buon inizio, infatti, le ragazze allenate da Terenzio Feroleto hanno finito per cedere progressivamente alle avversarie brave, da parte loro, a rimanere concentrate dopo un avvio complicato.

Dopo la sconfitta all'esordio maturata ieri è arrivato il pronto riscatto per Enrico Rossi e Adrian Carambula nel torneo 4 stelle in corso di svolgimento a Chetumal, Messico. Oggi il duo tricolore ha battuto con il punteggio di 2-0 (21-18, 22-20) i brasiliani Pedro Solberg-Oscar conquistando così l'accesso alla fase a eliminazione diretta.

Si chiude al primo turno ad eliminazione diretta la tappa 4 stelle di Chetumal anche per Enrico Rossi e Adrian Carambula. Il duo tricolore ha ceduto con un netto 2-0 (21-17, 21-13) agli statunitensi Crabb-Gibb chiudendo il torneo con un 17esimo postp come successo a Menegatti-Orsi Toth nel tabellone femminile.

Chetumal, Mexico, November 17, 2019 – Three-time Olympian Jake Gibb of the United States made FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour history when he and partner Taylor Crabb topped the podium at the event in Chetumal, Mexico as the veteran blocker became the oldest player to ever win a gold medal in international beach volleyball.
At 43 years, nine months and 12 days, Gibb surpassed fellow American John Hyden (41 years, eight months and 15 days) as he and Crabb downed top-seeded Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen of the Netherlands 2-1 (21-16, 16-21, 15-12) in the gold medal match in the Mexican city to secure their first World Tour medal as a team. Taylor’s older brother, Trevor, and Tri Bourne finished third.
“It feels amazing right now,” Gibb said about the accomplishment. “That’s obviously pretty cool but what makes it more important to me is that it’s my first gold medal with Taylor. I have to thank him for believing in me and sticking with me. The older I get the more court he covers and that’s a wonderful thing. Today we're the number one team in the world and we'll enjoy it.”
It took the team 26 events for the first World Tour medal, but for Crabb the wait was actually a little longer as the victory in Chetumal represented the first time he stepped on to a podium in a World Tour event after 31 tournaments – his international debut was in 2015.
The 27-year-old defender was thrilled about the team’s growth, which almost resulted in a podium placement at the 2019 World Tour Finals in Rome, in September, but ended with a fourth-place finish on that occasion.
“It feels amazing,” Crabb analyzed. “We battled so hard for the last three years and to get this in the last tournament the year, especially an Olympic qualifying year, it means the world to us. It’s really special and I wouldn’t have asked for any other partner to do it than Jake.”

Chetumal, Mexico, November 17, 2019 – The highlight of 2019 for Taliqua Clancy and Mariafe Artacho was certainly the bronze medal they won at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in July, but the Australians found yet another reason to end the year with a smile on their faces as they won the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event in Chetumal, Mexico on Sunday.
Clancy and Artacho came from behind for the third time in their last three matches on Mexican soil to defeat China’s Fan Wang and Xinyi Xia 2-1 (15-21, 21-14, 15-12) and secure the gold medal of the four-star event. The Netherlands’ Sanne Keizer and Madelein Meppelink took the bronze.
The Australians, who will share the $20,000 prize money and add 800 points to their world and Olympic rankings totals, have secured their sixth World Tour gold medal and the fourth in a different continent as they had also won events in Europe (Lucerne, Espinho and Warsaw), Asia (Qinzhou) and Oceania (Sydney).
They also remain undefeated against the Chinese, now with five World Tour victories and no setbacks. They topped Wang and Xia at this year’s Asian Championships gold medal match.
“We’ve played them a lot of times already and we knew they were a really good team,” Artacho explained. “We didn’t start well, but for us it was just about being patient, sticking to our game plan and believing we could turn things around. To win this tournament, it means a lot for us.”
The triumph in Chetumal means the Australians, who collected the bronze medal at this year’s World Championships, end the year on a high after they missed almost four months of competition between July and the end of October due to a knee injury sustained by Artacho. The team returned to action in Qinzhou, just two weeks ago, and topped the podium in their second tournament since then.
“Unfortunately we were forced to take some time off due to Mariafe’s injury, but her rehab went so well that I think she came back even stronger,” Clancy added. “I’m so proud of her and of what we could do as a team in 2019. It’s amazing that we managed to pick up right where we left off. I felt our game was flowing really well and it’s great that we managed to end the year on a high.”
